Morgan Rogers In Focus
Exploring Morgan Rogers’ impact at Villa Park, featuring his market value, contract terms, and key numbers for the Villans.
Scout Report
Technical Profile
Rogers has developed into one of the league’s most effective ball-carriers. His ability to receive under pressure and drive through the lines with close control makes him central to Villa’s transitional play.
Physical Threat
Rogers is able to use his strength to shield the ball effectively, and wriggle his way out of challenges and tight space. His acceleration over short distances is particularly effective in final-third combinations.
Tactical Role
Utilised often as a powerful number 10 or a secondary striker, Rogers links the midfield to Watkins. He is tasked with finding pockets of space and creating numerical advantages during attacking build-ups.
Morgan Rogers: Rise to Aston Villa superstar
There was not particularly a great amount of fanfare when Aston Villa paid Middlesbrough an initial £8million to sign Morgan Rogers, in a deal that could potentially reach£15m. It was seen as an astute piece of business, but possibly more one for the future. However, in the near two-and-a-half-years since, Rogers has become a superstar at Villa Park, and an absolute hero in the stands. He has helped Villa reach the Champions League and become perennial contenders to play in Europe’s elite competition. The 23-year-old has also become an England regular under Thomas Tuchel, and right now there appears absolutely no ceiling for his potential.
What has Thomas Tuchel previously said about Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham?
While there is a lot of competition for an England shirt this summer, it is increasingly looking like a straight fight between Real Madrid ace and former Birmingham City player Bellingham and Villa ace Rogers.
Speaking back in November 2025, Tuchel addressed how it can be a “friendly” competition, and is something he wants to see from his squad.
“They are friends, it can also be a friendly competition, they don’t have to be enemies,” he said.
“They are respectful. Rogers was not happy when he couldn’t start [against Albania] because he deserves to play, and he wants to play all the time.”
