NSWE finalise under-the-radar transfer as Aston Villa get welcome breathing space
Aston Villa may have given themselves some much-needed wiggle room for transfers this window.
Unai Emery is after multiple additions this month, with attack in particular a key area for improvement.
NSWE have been battling Profit and Sustainability Rules for the last couple of seasons, but are hoping to turn a corner in establishing the Villans as a top contender in English football.
Aston Villa Women are being internally transferred with hopes that Villa’s PSR concerns will be eased as a result of the change.
The move is now close to completion, and further details prove why Aston Villa could reap the rewards of it this January.

Aston Villa to remove amount of debt owed to NSWE
Emery has the Villans in a healthy spot in the Premier League, with his side currently sitting in third place on 43 points.
Villa have work to do if they are to catch Arsenal at the top of the table, and Emery may need reinforcements to do so this month.
In another stride towards making the Villans a more stable and competitive club, NSWE have made an important decision to make Aston Villa Women its own legal entity.
- NSWE will still own the women’s team
- The sale will be recorded as a sold asset for the men’s team
- This will reduce costs from Aston Villa Women in the form of matchday expenses, wages, and transfers
While speaking on The Price of Football Podcast, finance expert Kieran Maguire confirmed that the transfer is all but done, with the move set to relieve major financial pressure off the men’s team.
Maguire said: “It looks as though Aston Villa Women’s transfer to NSWE holdings is finalised. Villa’s compliance with PSR is okay, but not great. This should give them some breathing space.
“It’s just a bit of paperwork in the accounts. There’s no cash moving around; it will simply remove the amount of debt that Aston Villa owe to NSWE.”
What realistic signings can Aston Villa pull off this month?
Considering that Villa will still have to tiptoe their way around financial constraints this window, a heavy expenditure on incoming is not expected.
However, there are a few deals that Emery and Roberto Olabe will be able to manage, one of them being Tammy Abraham.
The former Villa man has been linked with a move back to B6 in recent days, with a cash plus player swap deal agreement mooted between Villa and Besiktas.
Evann Guessand has been suggested as a player that Besiktas would want, while the Villans have also kept their eyes on Real Salt Lake City youngster Zavier Gozo.
The young forward could be available for a low price, as he and Abraham are two that standout in terms of signings that Villa could realistically afford to make in January.
