Gabby Agbonlahor gutted at news he’s hearing out of Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s plans for the new Premier League season are being rocked by rumours that Jacob Ramsey could be sold to Newcastle.
It has been suggested that Newcastle will pay Villa around £40million for the midfielder.
Ramsey will likely get a pay rise out of the transfer, plus he’ll get the opportunity to play in the Champions League this season.
Unai Emery wasn’t starting Ramsey as often as the 24-year-old would have liked last season, and there had been reports that he was unhappy at Villa Park.
However, the transfer is still unsettling some of the Villa fanbase, many of whom would prefer the player to stay.

Agbonlahor upset as Ramsey looks set to finalise Newcastle transfer
Several clubs have shown interest in signing Ramsey this summer, but the Villa academy product is reportedly only interested in joining Newcastle.
It would spell the end of a long spell at Villa Park for Ramsey, who made his debut in the Championship during the 2018-19 season.
Gabriel Agbonlahor, a former Villa player who also came through the club’s academy, is far from happy with this transfer news.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I think he will be missed, one of our own, a local lad. The way he can carry that ball and create chances for others, he’ll be a big miss and a great signing for Newcastle.”

Aston Villa thinking ahead with Ramsey transfer
Agbonlahor did suggest that Villa’s hands were effectively tied with Ramsey.
The club had offered him a new contract three times, and the midfielder had turned down all three offers. He only has two years on his current deal left.
Indeed, in a situation like that, Villa’s only remaining options are to break the bank to try and keep the midfielder or to sell him now for maximum profit.

If Ramsey is sold, the money received will count as ‘pure profit’ in terms of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), since he is a youth academy product.
It was widely reported earlier in the summer that Villa had PSR concerns and might need to sell first-team stars.
While some Villa fans might not be happy at the sale, they’d likely be even more annoyed if the midfielder was to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer in two years’ time.
