Aston Villa already have agreement in place on how the Jacob Ramsey money will be used

Aston Villa look set to complete the sale of Jacob Ramsey.

Ramsey has been at Villa Park since 2007, breaking into the first team and initially becoming a regular under Steven Gerrard in 2021.

This association now looks set to come to an end as the Villans search for ways to put an end to their numerous financial problems.

These have restricted spending, meaning just two fresh faces have moved to Aston Villa, with Evann Guessand and Marco Bizot making their way through the doors at Bodymoor Heath.

Now, plans have emerged as to what the claret and blue outfit will do if, or more so when, Ramsey joins Newcastle United for £40million.

Aston Villa plan emerges amid Ramsey sale update

As a Villa fan himself, it will hurt for the 24-year-old to move on at this stage of his career after two difficult years under Unai Emery.

The Englishman never truly recovered to his best form after suffering an injury on international duty in the summer of 2023.

With that being said, the Villa Park fanbase is still split on Ramsey’s exit, with many fuming over the loss of one of their own, especially to the Magpies.

This comes as the attacking midfielder looks set to join the Geordies for a fee in the region of £40m, something which can be banked as pure profit on the B6 balance sheet.

Despite this, it doesn’t appear that Monchi and Co. will be able to utilise this financial boost before the end of the summer window.

John Townley has reported (14 August) that the Villans’ transfer activity will still be heavily limited due to UEFA’s squad cost ratio ruling.

Keeping hold of key players was the key objective for the claret and blue outfit this summer, so a big spend isn’t currently on the agenda.

Ramsey sale won’t fund new signings

In the bizarre world of football finances, even a £40m sale won’t be enough for the B6 outfit to make a splash in the transfer market.

This is even the case with Ramsey’s £70,000 per week wages off the books, something which has certainly left supporters infuriated in the Midlands.

Name (s)Weekly wage
Emi Martinez, Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans£150,000
Donyell Malen, Amadou Onana£140,000
Ollie Watkins£130,000
John McGinn, Leon Bailey£120,000
Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen£100,000
Emi Buendia, Ezri Konsa, Morgan Rogers£75,000
Jacob Ramsey£70,000

Instead, Emery will have to rely on Guessand to hit the ground running as well as familiar faces like Morgan Rogers, John McGinn and Donyell Malen to thrive.
