Ramsey contract update emerges at Aston Villa as Nottingham Forest ready transfer

Aston Villa have a massive decision to make regarding Jacob Ramsey this summer.

The Villans haven’t done much business in recent weeks. As a result, supporters are rightly concerned about their prospects next season.

Ramsey is being linked with a Villa exit, with the Lions looking for around £42.5million for the midfielder.

However, the Birmingham club may have changed their stance on the 24-year-old’s sale, after missing out on Marcus Rashford to Barcelona.

Ramsey could sign a new contract at Aston Villa

Ramsey could potentially be tempted to stay at Aston Villa amid interest from Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reports (4 August) that the English midfielder may be offered a new deal at Villa Park, with a number of teams monitoring his situation.

It’s been claimed that the Tricky Trees sense that Ramsey could be available for the right price before the end of August. However, the Lions have no reason to sell the 24-year-old for now, as they struggle to get players in this summer.

Emery needs to keep Ramsey at Villa Park

Villa will face Roma at Bescot Stadium on Wednesday (6 August) in one of their last friendlies before the start of the Premier League.

The Villans haven’t enjoyed the best pre-season, most recently drawing 2-2 against Nashville SC at Geodis Park (2 August).

As things stand, the Lions have seen their squad get weaker after the likes of Rashford and Marco Asensio departed after their loans.

Villa will be optimistic about their chance of winning the UEFA Europa League under Emery. However, the Spanish manager needs a competitive squad to achieve this.

Therefore, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens need to put their hands in their pockets and invest in the squad ahead of next season.

Unless some quality players arrive at Villa Park in the coming weeks, it wouldn’t make sense to sell Ramsey, and a new contract to secure his future should be considered.
