Aston Villa are coming to the end of their pre-season campaign, and have three fixtures remaining before the Premier League returns.

Unai Emery has not been able to strengthen his squad in the transfer market in the way he would have liked, and preparations for the new season have not been ideal.

Nevertheless, Aston Villa have the chance to play themselves into some form against top-quality European opposition in Roma, Marseille and Villarreal.

The game against Roma will take place in the UK, before Villa travel to France for a game against Marseille and Spain to face Emery's previous club Villarreal.

Aston Villa v Roma stadium details

Villa's clash against Roma will not take place at Villa Park, but will be nearby at Walsall's stadium.

Bescot Stadium will host the clash despite holding a capacity of just 11,300 seats, but there is a key reason for this.

It has been reported that the clash will take place away from Villa Park, with the stadium set to undergo maintenance.

  • Roma appointed former Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini earlier this summer.
  • The Serie A giants have made six summer signings so far, including Brighton forward Evan Ferguson.

Villa Park played host to several concerts over the summer, including Black Sabbath's farewell gig, and work is underway to improve the quality of the pitch following the events.

As a result, the game will take place at Walsall instead, meaning tickets are limited for the game.

Aston Villa v Roma tickets and weather forecast

Tickets for the fixture have now sold out, with the sale beginning on July 11, and the reduced capacity clearly did not cater for the demand for the game.

The game will take place on Wednesday (August 6) in the evening, with a 7.30pm kick-off, and both sides are expected to field strong teams.

It is expected to be a warm and sunny evening, with highs of 23 degrees Celsius and lows of 13 in the night.

Walsall is roughly 10 kilometres away from Villa, and fans will not have far to travel to get to the game.
