Morgan Rogers spotted wearing Real Madrid shirt amid Aston Villa exit speculation

Morgan Rogers could leave Aston Villa this summer with several interested clubs lining up moves.

Villa hold a strong position in any negotiation with the player under contract until 2030, but their response to a sizable bid is yet to be seen.

Rogers’ own desires are currently unclear, with the midfielder making his breakthrough in the Premier League just last season.

Rogers signed for Villa from Championship side Middlesbrough in January 2024, but it was the following season in which he made his presence felt.

After a strong showing at the end of the 2023/24 season, including goals against Brentford, Bournemouth and Chelsea, the 22-year-old found himself in the starting lineup from the get-go.

With incredible strength and a monstrous ability to drive forward with the ball, Rogers blew away onlookers and quickly established himself among the Premier League’s most impressive young midfielders.

Morgan Rogers’ adaptation to the Premier League has been instantaneous

A hattrick against Celtic and goals against PSG, Tottenham and Manchester City became the highlights from a brilliant season in which Rogers registered 14 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

A call-up to the England first-team, along with a PFA nomination for the Premier League’s young player of the year, were his reward, and interested suitors have now begun to circle.

Several clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with significant interest in the midfielder, who was spotted in another team’s shirt in a social media post.

In a post made to Instagram, Rogers could be seen wearing a Real Madrid shirt with the name of his England teammate Jude Bellingham on the back.

Aston Villa must keep Rogers

Villa’s response to any incoming bids for Rogers will be a test of their resolve, and their ambition.

With Ollie Watkins rumoured to be leaving this summer, the attacking potency at Unai Emery’s disposal will already take a significant hit – that blow cannot be compounded by the loss of Rogers.

At just 22, the Englishman’s potential, as well as his value, could soar in the next five years.

If Villa are to continue progressing in their pursuit of consistent Champions League qualification, and eventually a challenge for the Premier League title, they must prove their resistance to the pressure above.
