Aston Villa are at risk of losing several star players this summer amid financial concerns at the West Midlands club.

Chelsea and Aston Villa were both hit with financial penalties by UEFA and must pay a penalty for exceeding the £170million spending limit over three seasons.

PSR concerns mean that the Villans may have to sell at least one of their prized assets to generate income before 30 June.

Morgan Rogers is one of Villa's most sought-after players and would generate a sizeable fee if he were sold.

Aston Villa to only accept record bids for Rogers

Arsenal are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Rogers, who has continued flourishing at Villa Park.

Since signing from Middlesbrough in the 2024 winter window, the attacking midfielder has taken his game to new heights.

Last season, the 22-year-old tallied 29 goal contributions in all competitions, becoming one of Unai Emery's key players.

Rogers is admired by both Arsenal and Chelsea, but it is difficult to imagine Villa accepting offers that do not break records, according to the Daily Mail (24 June).

The England international signed for Aston Villa for an initial £8m, potentially rising to £15-16m with add-ons.

Given his age and career trajectory, it is suggested that other clubs would have to bid closer to £100m for the Villa Park outfit to consider selling him.

While that seems unlikely during this transfer window, Villa must continue to reach Europe to match his aspirations.

European football key to keeping Rogers for long haul

Given that Rogers has firmly established himself as one of England's brightest young prospects, the goal is clear.

Villa must continue to reach major European competitions.

Of course, the West Midlands outfit are not a Champions League outfit next season, but the Europa League will suffice for now.

Indeed, the Villans will be a real threat under Emery in Europe's secondary competition, as the Spaniard has four titles to his name.

However, if the West Midlands side fails to continue reaching these types of tournaments, then there is a risk that Rogers could leave.

He will have dreams of playing at the highest level, and he has already done that at Villa Park.

But, failing to do so will allow clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea to come sniffing around to pay a record fee for the midfielder.

For now, Rogers is likely safe at Villa Park, but if his stature continues to grow, then interest will rise.
