Aston Villa supporters in meltdown as Emery confirms XI v Brentford
Aston Villa supporters have gone into metldown after Unai Emery confirmed his team to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Villa are riding a wave of momentum after beating Club Brugge 3-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday (4 March).
They will be keen to continue building on that momentum when they take on Thomas Frank’s side in the Premier League on Saturday (8 March).
However, it seems as though fans have no confidence in picking up any kind of result after Emery’s team for the clash in West London was confirmed ahead of kick off.

Aston Villa duo nowhere to be seen v Brentford
Emiliano Martínez is one of Villa’s biggest players while Marco Asensio has been in fine form since joining the West Midlands-based club on loan from PSG in the winter transfer window.
However, neither Martínez nor Asensio are anywhere to be seen in the Villa squad against Brentford.
As a result, supporters have been sent into meltdown.
Aston Villa fans right to be concerned v Brentford
Villa are going strong in the Champions League and FA Cup.
However, Emery’s side have won just one of their last seven games in the Premier League. Therefore, supporters have every right to be concerned heading into the clash with Brentford.
Premier League | Position | Points |
Aston Villa | 10th | 42 |
Brentford | 11th | 38 |
The Bees are a tricky team to play away from home and Villa are set to take them on with some key players missing from the starting lineup. As a result, while suggestions that the match is already lost might be slightly dramatic, Villa could be in trouble in West London.
However, Robin Olsen does have the chance to prove some of his critics wrong by producing a bug display against Brentford.
But the real concern for Villa fans will be how long Martínez is going to be ruled out, and just exactly where Asensio is after his goalscoring display against Club Brugge.
