Monchi in record-breaking Aston Villa transfer mission to sign Joel Ordonez
Aston Villa chief Monchi is already making plans for the summer window with Club Brugge starlet Joel Ordonez.
The Villans were highly active in the winter by bringing five players including Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio and Donyell Malen.
This has already had a positive impact at Villa Park and in response, plans are already being made in the market ready for the end of the season.
This could see an early summer swoop be made to bring Ordonez in for a record-breaking fee despite a high level of competition.

Aston Villa send scouts to watch Ordonez
There is no secret of the centre-back issues that Villa have had throughout the campaign with both Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings dealing with lengthy issues.
This saw Axel Disasi drafted in from Chelsea for additional cover but when he returns to Stamford Bridge in the summer, a new option will be required.
The alternative for the Frenchman could prove to be Ordonez who the Villans have watched alongside scouts from Brighton and Chelsea, according to the Sunday Mirror (23 February, page 71).
There are also high levels of interest from Germany and Italy but the fact that Club Brugge want a record-breaking fee could be offputting for those sides.
The current record in the Pro League was set in 2022 when Charles De Ketelaere departed Brugge to join AC Milan for £29million, so Villa would likely have to fork out more than that for the Ecuadorian.
Name | Fee |
Charles De Ketelaere | £29m |
Igor Thiago | £27.3m |
Jonathan David | £22.3m |
Jeremy Doku | £21.5m |
Youri Tielemans | £20.7m |
Wesley | £20.7m |
Monchi must prove worth with Joel Ordonez signing
There have been plenty of questions of the President of Football Operations with some of his signings since coming in at Villa Park.
With that being said, he has managed to prove himself somewhat during the winter window with Rashford and Asensio looking like top additions after the Chelsea win.
This will all be forgotten if the Spaniard oversees a negative summer window and that could kick off by missing out on signing Ordonez.
The 20-year-old has been higly rated across Europe with his performances in the Champions League which have helped his side to the round of 16.
The centre-back will now line up against Villa once again as Monchi and Co. get another closer look at one of their top transfer targets.
