Unai Emery ‘has transfer regret’ amid official Aston Villa news
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery will be fuming after Ezri Konsa became the latest player to pick up an injury in B6.
The England international pulled up and was forced off in the first half of the FA Cup clash against Tottenham on Sunday (9 February).
This left the Spanish head coach without a fit, recognised centre-back available as Lamare Bogarde and Boubacar Kamara deputized in the role at Villa Park.
Moving forward, this may not prove to be sustainable and as a result, the hierarchy at Bodymoor may have regrets over their transfer business.
Aston Villa have transfer regret after Yasin Ozcan signing
The Villans let Diego Carlos go during the winter window but that deal had been on the cards for many months.
In reaction to this, a deadline day deal was agreed to bring Axel Disasi to the West Midlands on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the campaign.
As useful as that move could prove to be, the France international is currently on his own in the centre-back department at Villa Park but that could have been so different.
On Monday (10 February), the pre-contract signing of Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa was revealed by Villa via X, meaning he won’t join until the end of the campaign.
Although the Turkish youngster has no experience of English football and is just 18 years old, he could have still proven to be a useful addition for the rest of the season.
While Tyrone Mings, Pau Torres and Konsa recover from their various injury issues, the new signing could have been a deputy option under Emery.
Aston Villa won’t get Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa until the summer
It feels like a brave move from Monchi and Co. to leave this signing until the window had closed given how limited the defensive options are in B6 right now.
This is especially the case given that Sil Swinkels has been sent out on loan to Bristol Rovers until the end of the season.
It is clear that Emery doesn’t back either of these young defenders to come in and have the desired impact which could prove to be regretful.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Villans cope in the coming weeks and months with defensive injuries while Ozcan features in Turkyie.
