Morgan Rogers Aston Villa contract ‘virtually there’ amid new developments
Dan Bardell understands Morgan Rogers is close to signing a new contract at Aston Villa after he was called up to the England senior team.
The Villans are keen to raise the 22-year-old’s salary to match his teammates at Villa Park after playing a key role under Unai Emery this season [Jacob Tanswell].
This form has now been recognised by Lee Carsley after joining up with the Three Lions’ senior team on Monday 11 November.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes a deal is close for the versatile forward with his new contract representing a positive message from the club.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I know Rogers is virtually there, it’s been on the cards for a while.
“They want to put him in line with some of the other players that are in the first team and reward him for his progress after not even 12 months in the first team.
“I think it’s brilliant, he deserves a new contract and it’s a good message to players at the club because it would have been easy to keep him on the money he’s on and let him have another year on it but the club has shown that if you perform you’ll be rewarded.
“That’s the right message to have at the football club.“
Morgan Rogers to seal new Aston Villa contract
The ex-Manchester City starlet has been up there with the most important players in B6 so far this season.
After signing from Middlesbrough last January, Rogers has gone from strength to strength and has contributed with three goals and two assists in 11 Premier League starts [FotMob].
This start to the campaign has clearly impressed and has earned him a deserved call-up for England.

With that being said, it is clear why the Villans are looking to tie him down to a new deal which now appears to be moving closer to completion.
