Aston Villa will be concerned about Morgan Rogers after recent announcement
Morgan Rogers’ fine form for Aston Villa could pose a problem for Unai Emery.
Rogers has been one of Villa’s standout players this season.
The 22-year-old has three goals and two assists in 11 Premier League appearances this term, while he has wowed at times with his overall play.
As a result, he has finally earned his first senior England call-up, something which ex-Villa scout Bryan King speculated he would receive.
England confirmed via their official website on Monday (11 November) that after Rogers had originally been called up to the Under-21s squad, something which Emery would not have been pleased about, he has now received his first senior call-up following several players withdrawing through injury.
However, while this is no doubt a boost for the player, it is bound to cause some concern for Emery.
Villa are on a bad run of form, having lost their last four matches in all competitions.
In addition, they have been handed a devastating injury blow, with Jacob Ramsey and Boubacar Kamara both facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after an injury update on Monday (via The Athletic, 11 November).
Therefore, the last thing Emery needs is for Rogers to pick up an injury, something which is now more likely after his call-up to the senior England squad.
Unai Emery to be concerned after England call-up for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers?
Rogers wasn’t at his best in Aston Villa’s 2-0 Premier League defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (9 November).
While the Englishman did play two key passes, with 100 per cent of his long balls accurate, he also only completed 60 per cent of his passes overall (Sofascore).
In addition, his one cross into the box was inaccurate while he also missed one big chance and succeded with just 50 per cent of his dribble attempts.
Meanwhile, while he is usually very good at chipping in defensively, Rogers only won four of his 11 ground duels against Liverpool and was also dribbled past twice, while he also gave possession away 21 times.
Therefore, Emery would have no doubt been keen for Rogers to rest over the next couple of weeks as he looks to rediscover his best form for Villa.

However, instead, he will be working with England, and while that could also help him to rediscover his best form, Emery will just be hoping to have his star player back 100 per cent fit and ready to go for the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Villa Park on Saturday 23 November.
