Aston Villa ‘Good news’ mooted after fresh Jacob Ramsey contract development
Dan Bardell would welcome a new contract for Jacob Ramsey at Aston Villa despite frequent injury issues over the last 12 months.
The Villans are ready to offer a new contract to the 23-year-old to warn off any interest from the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham [Graeme Bailey].
The England Under-21 international’s current deal ends in 2027 so Unai Emery may be keen for him to commit his long-term future to B6.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes it is positive to tie the attacking midfielder down to a new deal given his talent despite being hampered by injuries in recent months.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think we’ve seen glimpses that he’s coming back towards his best.
“He’s a footballer that I love but for the last 12 months, we haven’t been able to see the real Jacob Ramsey because of injuries and finding his way back into the team.
“There is an England player there in Ramsey, he’s such a talent. I just think he needs a goal and he’ll start to fire, it’s been a shame that he has stagnated over the last year through no fault of his own.
“Getting him tied down to a new deal is good news.“

The academy product is a fan favourite and is finally looking to be back to his best after positive showings against Tottenham and Liverpool in recent weeks.
Injuries have been the biggest concern for the Englishman which has seen him ruled out of playing plenty of football over the past year.
It is clear that Emery still rates him highly and so do rival teams given how much interest there has been in his signature at times.
Villa supporters will be delighted to see him tied down to a new deal and will hope to see the best of Ramsey in the coming weeks and months of the season.
