Aston Villa: Fabrizio Romano shares Unai Emery exit update at Villa Park with jobs available
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery remains focused on ensuring his side finish the season strongly on multiple fronts despite rumours linking him with other jobs, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Villans have had a sensational season both domestically and in Europe, currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table and on course to make the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League.
With Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich just three of the big-name clubs on the hunt for new managers this summer, Romano called into question why Emery’s name wasn’t on many people’s lists of candidates.
In his daily briefing, the Italian journalist said: “Emery is fully focused on Aston Villa, focusing on Villa’s European campaign this season and of course on a Champions League spot for next season. Nothing is concrete at this stage with other jobs; there’s interest for sure in Emery but he’s focusing on Villa now.”
Unai Emery to leave Aston Villa?
Aston Villa have been transformed under Emery’s tutelage, going from 16th to seventh place in his first campaign following the October 2022 sacking of Steven Gerrard.
Since then, Emery has led Villa on a seemingly endless upward trajectory, exemplified by their 2-0 win away at Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal on 14 April.

Just four days after that momentous triumph, the Villans face Lille in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League quarter-final, and with a 2-1 advantage on aggregate, are just 90 minutes away from the last four.
With Diego Carlos excelling at the back and record-breaking striker Ollie Watkins banging in the goals at the other end, Villa are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, with Emery at its centre.
Liverpool, Bayern and Barcelona may not act on any potential interest in the 52-year-old Spaniard, but given the way things are going, he will not want to swap this for any job in the world.
In other Aston Villa news, a new contract is on the table for key midfielder Douglas Luiz.
