Aston Villa want to seal Ollie Arblaster transfer after Sheffield United news

Aston Villa are pushing hard to secure a top-four spot, and are keen to sign Sheffield United midfielder Ollie Arblaster ahead of next season, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported on its website that the Villans are one of the leading clubs interested in signing the 19-year-old, who has impressed in difficult circumstances at Bramall Lane this season.

After spending the first half of the season out on loan and impressing at Port Vale, Arblaster has started Sheffield United’s last two Premier League games, helping the side to draws with both Bournemouth and Fulham.

Chris Wilder has been impressed by the youngster in recent matches, but Arblaster’s performances have made Villa and several others well aware of his talents, making it increasingly likely he’ll leave his hometown club if and when Sheffield United are relegated.

Can Aston Villa secure the services of Ollie Arblaster?

Unai Emery is far from short of options in midfield, with Douglas Luis, Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and captain John McGinn helping Villa to a lofty fourth place in the Premier League.

However, with a potential Champions League campaign on the horizon next season and numerous injuries, the Spaniard will still be keen to bolster his in-form squad with additions in the summer.

The emergence of Ramsey alone could be enough to sway the Sheffield United midfielder towards Villa Park, in the hope of emulating Ramsey’s breakthrough 2020-21 season, the 22-year-old has played in almost every Premier League game since.

Arblaster could be the young talisman that Wilder and Sheffield United rally around if they are relegated back to the Championship next season, but the offer of playing for Aston Villa on the continent might be too good an offer to refuse for the 19-year-old.
