Aston Villa: Broadcaster shares whether £64m double signing could be completed at Villa Park

Aston Villa are unlikely to sign both Nico and Inaki Williams from Athletic Bilbao after a development has emerged, according to Ty Bracey.

Spanish news outlet Catalunya.cat reported on its website on 18 February that Villa are eying a double swoop for the two brothers, who both play as forwards for the La Liga club.

It added that a deal to sign both players would need to be in excess of €75million (£64million) to complete the double swoop in the summer transfer window.

Bracey believes it could be a bit of a stretch to sign the duo, but after Nico previously rejected a move to Unai Emery’s side, he added that the Villans could be in a better position to sign players like the 21-year-old if they were to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It is a bit of a stretch to see us signing both of them, but Nico Williams turned us down in the summer.

“We’re doing much better than we were last season in the grand scheme of things.

“We’re sat in fourth players and that’s attractive for any player who wants to make the move to the Premier League.

“If we can hover around those Champions League places, it’s going to be attractive for players to want to join.

“I don’t know if there’s any truth in us looking to sign both of them, it could just be easy journalism because of Monchi and Emery’s links.”

Aston Villa double signing unlikely

It seems pretty unlikely that Villa would sign both of the forwards due to the amount of money they could cost in terms of a transfer fee and wages.

Emery will probably be keen to add another forward option and he could be tempted to return for Spanish international Nico if the price is right.

But a move for his 29-year-old brother Inaki, who plays for Ghana at international level, is probably not on the cards due to his age as the Villans could be more likely to want to bring in younger players.
