Ty Bracey: ‘Indispensable’ Douglas Luiz Aston Villa signing of the decade amid January exit links
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Douglas Luiz could be the best signing of the last 10 years for Aston Villa after becoming “indispensable” to the club, according to Ty Bracey.
His recent brace against West Ham was just the latest of his standout performances in claret and blue. Under the guidance of Unai Emery, the Brazilian has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.
Departure links felt inevitable, and as reported by 90min (23 October), Arsenal remain interested in a January deal for the 25-year-old. While his excellence is garnering interest, his commitment to Villa remains and his dominance of the midfield has seen him start every league game this season

Bracey singled out Luiz as a top performer for Villa. His 6 goals in all competitions leave him second on Villa’s top-scorer list, second only to Ollie Watkins. With 33 shot-creating actions and 21 tackles too, Luiz’s impact has been significant.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’s been great, he’s been in tip-top form and that save from Alphonse Areola [against West Ham] was first-class, it was going top bins from Luiz.
“He’s indispensable for us and you could say he’s our best signing in the last 10 years, he’s doing exactly what’s expected and I couldn’t be happier.
“It’s good that our players are on the radar, but it’s our job to keep hold of them.”
In other Aston Villa news, Fears have emerged at Villa over a star player’s exit after an “incredible” turn of events.
