Emerson Royal has made his feelings known after interest from Aston Villa.

The Villans are yet to complete a single piece of incoming business this summer.

It is clear that financial concerns remain rife in B6 and are halting any progress that can be made in the market.

There has been a general lack of concrete links, but there has been interest reported in the Flamengo man.

The Brazilian emerged as an option as the claret and blue outfit looked to end their long-term hunt for a new right-back.

Emerson is yet to seal a move to Villa Park and has now spoken out for the first time after interest.

What has Emerson Royal said about Aston Villa links?

It's fair to say that interest in the 27-year-old took many Villa fans by surprise.

After his spell at Tottenham, there aren't many positive reviews surrounding the defender,

That didn't stop the Villans from reportedly opening talks to sign Emerson this summer.

The Brazilian has now been asked about the potential of a move after featuring against Swiss outfit Lausanne-Sport on Wednesday.

He is flattered to have been linked away from Flamengo, but an exit doesn't appear to be on his mind.

In quotes shared by Itatiaia, he said: "As I said, until nothing is decided, my head is always at Flamengo. I am very happy to receive this offer [from Aston Villa], as it shows that my work is being done well. My head is at Flamengo, but I don't know about the future."

That points towards a deal with Villa being off the cards at this stage.

Ange Postecoglou has already explained why Aston Villa want to sign Emerson Royal

Do Flamengo want to sell Emerson to Aston Villa?

If the right-back is focused on his time in his homeland, it appears that Flamengo are happy with that.

The Serie A giants believe that an offer of around £7.6m wouldn't be worth their while as it would be increasingly difficult to find an alternative.

That is the opinion of Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, who is currently happy to keep Emerson.

Speaking to Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande, he said: "We received an inquiry, but where is the full-back to replace Royal? I get £7.6m, but which full-back can I buy in Brazil today?

"Does Flamengo need to sell players? No. Is it important to sell? Yes. Flamengo's financial situation allows it."

His opinion is crystal clear and that could force Villa to outlay a bigger fee or drop their interest all together this summer.
