Aston Villa fans pay price for success as season ticket announcement confirmed

Aston Villa have finally announced their season ticket prices for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

The Villans are coming off the back of one of the best campaigns in living memory.

Having qualified for the Champions League for the second time in three years, Unai Emery’s men went on to win the Europa League.

That night in Istanbul won’t ever be forgotten, and it’s safe to say that fans and players alike have celebrated like they never have before in the week following.

Villa’s recent success in the Premier League and Europe has given supporters a reason to cheer, but it now looks set to leave a dent in their pockets.

The claret and blue outfit hasn’t been shy about charging extortionate prices to supporters in recent years.

That was on show last time around in the Champions League as ticket costs were the talk of English football for months.

Lessons haven’t truly been learned from these prices as fans continue to feel let down by the B6 outfit, as many are priced out of watching their side at Villa Park.

That is now on show again after season ticket prices were named just a week after Europa League glory in Istanbul.

A five per cent increase was revealed, with two types of season tickets on sale, with one including just Premier League games and another adding in the Champions League, league phase games.

An adult sitting in Price Zone One in the latter category will now pay £1297.50 for the season, with the cheapest adult ticket coming in at £969.

Villa are still offering their interest-free payment option across eight months, with fans able to renew between Wednesday 3rd June at 9.30am and Sunday 5th July at 5pm.

Aston Villa have previously been slammed for ticket prices, and it looks as if they haven’t learned and continue to increase fees for matchgoing fans.

What does an Aston Villa season ticket holder make of the new prices?

I’ve been going to Villa Park as a season ticket holder since 2013, so I’ve seen arguably the best and worst football this club has ever seen in my time.

From watching Paul Lambert, Remi Garde and Roberto Di Matteo’s football, myself and many long-standing fans believe they deserve some sort of loyalty.

That clearly isn’t in the B6 hierarchy’s mind, with fans made to pick up the slack under the current financial rules.

In their season ticket price announcement, they say: “We want to achieve our revenue targets to support ongoing investment in the playing squad.”

Aston Villa season ticket price increase reason

Why that has to be down to the supporters to deal with, I’m not sure.

It just feels like a kick in the teeth, as if the success over the past few weeks has been memorable but has affected the money coming out of my bank account every month.

I don’t think fans who have stuck around through thick and thin should be being priced out of their seats, but some will argue that is the price of success.

Would I have taken winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League while knowing my season ticket fee would go up? Probably, yeah…
