Aston Villa must do the right thing as Ben Broggio’s loan ends at Falkirk
Aston Villa are now ready to welcome Ben Broggio back from his loan spell at Falkirk.
It was a no-brainer to let the 19-year-old depart in January as he looked to secure regular senior minutes that he wasn’t going to get in B6.
Surprise surrounded the winger when his temporary Bodymoor Heath exit was to Falkirk Stadium despite no prior link between the two clubs.
It was actually a recommendation from John McGinn to his brother Stephen, who is currently acting as first-team coach for the Scottish Premiership outfit.
Broggio went on to shine for Falkirk and is now set for a Villa Park return, with his next steps seeming simple in claret and blue.

The latest breaking news on active deals, signings, departures, contracts and primary targets.
How did Ben Broggio perform for Falkirk?
The Englishman is seen as one of the brightest prospects in B6 right now, so picking up first-team game time is imperative for his development.
He has certainly gone on to get that across the border despite only sealing a move in the late stages of the January transfer window.
| Stat (Scottish Premiership 25/26) | Ben Broggio |
| Appearances | 14 |
| Starts | 12 |
| Goals | 5 |
| Assists | 2 |
The teenager became a regular in FK2 and became a constant source of creativity in front of goals, whether he was scoring or assisting them.
Contributing to seven goals in the Scottish Premiership is excellent in just 12 starts, with arguably his best showing coming away to Motherwell in early April.
Not only did he get on the scoresheet at Fir Park, but he also created one chance and completed two dribbles down the flank.
He also chipped in with one tackle and three duel wins, proving that he can do the dirty work when required.
Falkirk have got the best of Broggio, whose fans gave him a standing ovation after the final-day loss to Rangers on Sunday, and there will now be questions about his future at Villa Park moving into the new season.
What are the next steps for Broggio at Aston Villa?
Unai Emery isn’t the sort of manager who regularly throws in young players and gives them a true chance in the first team.
Lamare Bogarde is the only true academy product to break through under his management, having made 59 career appearances in claret and blue so far.
Things may be different for Broggio, as the general lack of goals from wingers this season has represented a cause for concern in B6.
In the Premier League, Leon Bailey and Jadon Sancho have a combined three goals and assists, while Broggio has seven on his own.

That is something that won’t be lost on Emery, and it could prove to be a cost-effective method to bring some pace and goal threat into his squad next campaign.
Villa need to box clever with their spending over the summer, so someone like the 19-year-old may be set for an opportunity to impress.
