Aston Villa must take leaf out of Man City book despite North Stand closure as season ticket prices set

Aston Villa fans are fearing for the upcoming release of season ticket prices, and rightly so.

The hierarchy in B6 have had no shame when it comes to pricing out supporters in recent years.

That saw sky-high ticket fees set at Villa Park for the Champions League campaign before maintaining similar costs in the Europa League and Premier League this season.

It is assumed these are only likely to get worse now that the North Stand is set to be closed for the entirety of next season.

There are true fears that Villa could drastically increase season ticket prices as a result, but there are fresh hopes that this won’t be the case.

Aston Villa season ticket prices expected to increase

As a season ticket holder myself, I am genuinely worried about what sort of bill I’ll be paying before the 2026/27 campaign.

Single-match admission has been extortionate, as it has been over the past 12 months, with prices for the Europa League certainly raising eyebrows.

That has rightly put many fans off attending these fixtures and has resulted in attendances far short of the 43,000+ capacity in B6.

Even with that being the case, prices could still skyrocket moving into the summer, with the North Stand set to close.

With around 7,000 seats missing from Villa Park, the Villans will certainly feel a financial hit, and the remaining capacity could make up for that shortfall.

That makes for grim reading for season ticket holders with just weeks remaining of the campaign in the Midlands.

Villa may have left fans fuming this season, but Manchester City may have just set a precedent that could be followed in B6.

Manchester City freeze season ticket prices

The Citizens could be on their way to yet another Premier League title, but still aren’t pricing out their supporters ahead of the summer.

An announcement has been made that season ticket prices have been frozen for the second consecutive season at the Etihad Stadium.

General admission prices have also been kept the same after holding talks with their fan representation board over recent months.

That is despite their own North Stand expansion project, which has added over 4,000 new season tickets and carried their capacity over the 60,000 mark.

Villa need to use that example and show some sort of thanks to supporters rather than once again slapping them with massive price increases.
