Aston Villa look to be closing in on the signing of Harry Wilson on a free transfer.

The Wales international has been heavily linked with a departure from Fulham as his contract ticks down towards its summer expiry.

A Craven Cottage exit will come at the end of his best Premier League season after contributing to 16 goals so far.

“The Red Wall were extremely worried about who would step up following Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey’s retirements, but he’s taken the leadership role with a firm grasp and hasn’t looked back.

“He’s fearless, dangerous, has an incredible work ethic, and keeps popping up with key moments. He’ll fit in perfectly at Villa Park with his long-range strikes as well.

“He loves stepping up to the penalty spot as well, so he should be able to fix a couple of shortcomings in the Villa squad next season.”

It is clear that Wilson has made a stellar impression on the international stage, and he now looks set to get the chance to replicate that with the Villans under Emery.
