Aston Villa given fresh Oscar Mingueza boost as agency switch emerges amid timely contract stall
Aston Villa are monitoring Oscar Mingueza as the right-back has yet to accept a new contract offer from Celta Vigo.
The La Liga side has offered the Spaniard fresh terms, but there is concern as he has yet to accept the deal, with Villa one club interested.
The Villans have had a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old, who could now be available for a cut-price deal this summer.
He’s reportedly parted ways with his long-time agent Josep Maria Orobitg and has joined a new British agency, Unique Sports Group.
Mingueza is on Aston Villa’s radar, and the move to change agents seems far too coincidental given the interest and tensions in contract talks.

Aston Villa have experience dealing with Oscar Mingueza’s new agents
Mingueza could be part of a new-look Aston Villa defence next season, with ageing players set to move on from Villa Park this summer.
Unai Emery admires the former Barcelona star, and it feels like everything is aligning for him to make a move to B6 soon.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Matches (starts) | 27 (19) |
| Goal involvements | 5 |
| Dribble success | 50% |
| Defensive contributions per 90 | 4.10 |
| Goals conceded while on pitch | 1.17 |
Villa know all about Mingueza’s new British agency, Unique Sports Group, as the company also represented former star, Jacob Ramsey.
This could give them a boost in any transfer talks this summer, as Villa-linked winger Harry Wilson is also with the same group.
As relayed by Total Villa on X this Wednesday, the Villans are still interested in the defender, along with Juventus.
How does Mingueza stack up vs Matty Cash?
Mingueza would come to Villa Park and offer Matty Cash immediate competition, with the right-back spot well spoken about among the fanbase this season.
Cash has had turbulent seasons in terms of his form, which always seems to fluctuate, something that Emery may not want to have to deal with anymore.

As seen in the graphic above, there are similarities and differences between Mingueza and Villa’s current first-choice right-back option.
It’s worth noting that the Celta Vigo man often plays more advanced on the right than Cash, but the former’s defensive stats still match up well.
