Amadou Onana responds to viral fan interaction captured from Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa
Amadou Onana says “it’s all love” between him and Nottingham Forest fans, after the Aston Villa star was captured engaging in a tongue-in-cheek argument with the home supporters on Sunday.
The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Aston Villa drew 1-1 away at Nottingham Forest at the weekend, in what was a frustrating afternoon at the office for Unai Emery‘s side.
After taking an early lead thanks to a Murillo own goal on 23 minutes, Forest were able to equalise through Neco Williams shortly before half-time, and that’s how it would remain.
Onana put in another top performance against Forest, with the Belgian international undoubtedly in the running to be crowned Villa’s player of the season in 2025-26.
However, the 24-year-old is also a great character as well, which he demonstrated in Villa’s draw with Forest courtesy of a viral fan interaction.

What Amadou Onana said about Nottingham Forest fan moment
Aston Villa fans love Onana, as he always gives absolutely everything for the cause and wears his heart on his sleeve.
However, he wasn’t in the good books with some Nottingham Forest fans on Sunday, but he may well have won them over with how he responded.
| Onana’s stats vs Forest | Result |
| Key passes | 1 |
| Pass accuracy | 93% |
| Shots | 1 |
| Touches | 70 |
| Ground duels (won) | 7 (5) |
During the interluding period of Villa taking the lead and Forest getting the equaliser, Onana was perceived to perhaps be wasting time slightly by spending a certain amount of time on the deck.
Some Forest fans picked up on that, and so when paused to take on some fluids by the side of the pitch, a few home supporters decided to give him some feedback on the matter.

A fan calls Onana a (expletive) (expletive), before the Villa midfielder responds jokingly by saying: “That’s not very nice of you.”
Then another supporter tells him to “stop falling over!”, to which Onana can be seen laughing, before eventually standing up and saying: “Love you too,” as he smiles and runs back onto the pitch.
The whole interaction was taken in good spirits by everyone involved, and taking to his Instagram story, Onana further commented on the moment, showing his class even more.
“I mean it’s all love at the end of the day,” he said.
Onana is a credit to Aston Villa
In that moment, it could’ve been easy for Onana to lose his rag with the home supporters, and even let it knock him off his game.
However, his brilliant personality and understanding of the moment he was in ensured neither of those things happened, and instead, we got a great moment of player-fan interaction that makes football in this country so good.
Okay, what was said to Onana wasn’t exactly nice nor a compliment, but the way the Villa star disarmed the Forest fans and gave a bit back whilst keeping it all in good spirits was superb.
Both for the way he plays the game, and his class both on and off the pitch, Onana really is a credit to Aston Villa.
