Aston Villa among host of Premier League clubs plotting summer moves for PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa are reportedly one of several Premier League sides eyeing up a summer transfer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye.

With Villa on the cusp of sealing their place in the Premier League’s top four this season, attention may be starting to turn towards the summer transfer window.

As always, the Villans will be looking to conduct shrewd pieces of business in the coming months, as they continue to feel the pressure of PSR and UEFA spending restrictions respectively.

However, Unai Emery will still expect to be backed in the market, as the Spaniard looks to try and put together a squad that can go the distance in a title race moving forward.

So, it’s set to be a busy summer transfer window at Villa Park, with numerous incomings and outgoings sure to be on the agenda.

Aston Villa prepare summer move for PSG talent Ibrahim Mbaye

With Dortmund’s Julian Brandt linked with Aston Villa, it already appears as though Villa will be putting a significant focus on bolstering their forward line this summer.

Indeed, Emery’s side have only scored 42 goals in the league this term, which when you consider the current top two in Man City and Arsenal have scored 60 and 61 respectively, shows how much work may need to be done in that regard.

However, Villa may well have found their forward of the future, as according to a report from Sky Sports on Tuesday, the Villans are weighing up a summer swoop for PSG’s Mbaye.

The report claims that a number of Premier League teams are also considering making a move for the 18-year-old, with the importance of qualifying for the Champions League said to be an important factor in Villa’s chances.

It’s said that the PSG academy graduate is putting consideration into moving to a team where he will become a regular starter, having largely been a squad player for the French giants this season.

Mbaye was part of Senegal’s African Cup of Nations team, where he scored against Sudan in the Round of 16 and came on as a substitute in the final too.

He’s highly-rated in Paris, but it looks as though he may be ready to explore the opportunity to play more regularly for a different team this summer, rather than potentially having to wait longer to carve out a key role with PSG.

Where does Mbaye play for PSG?

Mbaye is a right-winger by trade, and that’s predominantly where Luis Enrique has deployed him for PSG this season.

However, the teenager is versatile, and can operate on the left side and can even drop into an attacking midfield role, whilst he looks to have the profile of someone who could play as a central striker too.

Mbaye made his debut for PSG aged just 16 in August 2024, becoming their youngest ever player to start a competitive fixture, showing just how highly though of he is in Paris.

Standing around 5’9″ tall, Mbaye is known for his explosive speed, flair and ball-carrying ability, and could be a very exciting acquisition if Aston Villa can get a deal done this summer.
