Aston Villa‘s game against West Ham has become even more important, with fans reacting to results elsewhere going the Villans’ way this weekend.

Across the Premier League, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all dropped points, leaving Unai Emery’s side an excellent chance to extend their grasp on third place.

In the league, Villa are currently on a three-game losing streak.

Due to that, the chasing pack had begun to claw back the gap the B6 outfit had created, but now the tables have turned in Emery’s favour.

Ahead of the international break, an Aston Villa win against West Ham would put the Villa Park side back into a strong position.

Aston Villa fans react to results in battle for Champions League football

A sigh of relief might have been heard at Villa Park after results on Saturday came through.

Those directly behind the Birmingham-based club had all faltered in the battle to qualify for Champions League football.

The results have given Villa some breathing room, but it also, more importantly, represents a chance to strengthen their position.

Form for Villa has been incredibly poor, and due to that, there are a few fans that believe they will not take their chance.

One fan hinted that Villa will join the others in dropping points, saying on X: “Whenever we get an opportunity, you know what Villa does, don’t you…”

Others followed in a similar fashion, relaying that sentiment.

Another said: “A perfect weekend so far for Villa with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United dropping points. We usually fumble hard when we have chances like this to open gaps up between us and other teams but lets stay optimistic UTFV.”

Plenty more supporters took to social media to express the growing importance for the squad to turn up.

The perfection of the results around the Premier League was then best summed up by one fan who simply stated: “If Carlsberg did Saturdays.”

Overall, Emery’s side must take this opportunity with both hands, as if they don’t, they will have no one to blame but themselves if they miss out on Champions League football.

Why Aston Villa’s final two games make West Ham fixture more important

Aston Villa’s final two games of the season are likely the toughest back-to-back fixtures for any side at the end of the campaign.

In their penultimate match, they host fellow Champions League chasers Liverpool before closing the season out at the Etihad.

While Liverpool are not in form, and Manchester City are far from the side they used to be, there is every chance that Emery’s side will drop points in both.

Creating a margin in the league at every opportunity before then would limit the damage those games could cause.
