Morgan Rogers continues to be linked with a move away from Aston Villa.

The England international has certainly been a star in claret and blue since completing his surprise move from Middlesbrough in 2024.

He has only gotten better and better every week as Unai Emery continues to get the best out of the 23-year-old at Villa Park.

This season has arguably been his best, and there will be hopes that his performances can drag the Villans to Champions League qualification.

That has prompted Rogers to be linked away from Villa, but his departure could prove to be exactly what the B6 need right now.

The Midlands outfit are in a shocking vein of form right now and don’t look like turning things around any time soon.

They will need to do exactly that if they are to maintain their place in the top four of the Premier League until the end of the season.

If that isn’t secured, talkSPORT have reported that the Villans could face a fight to keep hold of Rogers beyond the summer.

Despite signing a contract until 2031 in November, Chelsea and Liverpool are still said to be interested in his signature.

Villa are said to want more than the £100million they received for Jack Grealish in 2021 as they eye another club record sale should the attacking midfielder depart.

Although it may sound counterproductive, selling Rogers could be exactly what Aston Villa need ahead of the next campaign.

The Englishman is a special player and looks increasingly likely to go to the World Cup and play a telling role for Thomas Tuchel.

That is only going to inflate his value further and make him even more desirable to the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool moving forward.

That is where Villa could massively benefit and look to kickstart a major rebuild in B6, something that has been needed for years.

Emery is still utilising 11 players who featured under Dean Smith, proving the lack of regeneration in this current squad.

The major sale of Rogers could help to improve multiple areas of the side and make Villa a much better side as a whole.

It sounds counterintuitive to suggest selling your best player, but sometimes those risks need to be taken with the hope of moving forward as a collective.

It worked when Grealish left for Manchester City in the end, so it could be repeated with Rogers five years on.
