The ex-England international has been a key figure in the resurgence of Villa Park in recent years, having initially joined in the Championship.
Having signed permanently for around £20million from Bournemouth, he has gone on to be worth every penny in claret and blue.
The 32-year-old has maintained his place as a regular in the Midlands and has often swapped in and out with Pau Torres.

It has come as a surprise to see the defender come back from injury in the Midlands and become a regular at the back once again.
That has come as a frustrating sign of going backwards to many, especially with Torres sitting on the bench and watching on.
Mings does provide physicality, and it is likely that factor which gives him an edge over the Spaniard in certain games.
The ex-Ipswich Town man is also paid well at Villa Park, so starting him does make sense from a financial point of view.
He was reportedly paid a figure in the region of £110,000 per week, which tallies up to a yearly salary of around £5.7m.
That figure sits on his current deal, but that only lasts until the summer of 2027, having signed a new deal last summer.
Could Tyrone Mings leave Aston Villa?
Even with his contract ticking down, it feels unlikely that Mings will leave B6 anytime soon.
The Englishman is adored in claret and blue, so keeping hold of him for the foreseeable makes total sense for Unai Emery and Co.
His minutes may need to take a drop off at some stage, especially if the Villans are keen to maintain their efforts to land within the Champions League.
There is every chance that Villa will go out and sign a new defensive option in the summer, but as part of the squad, Mings is a useful asset.
They should keep the defender around Bodymoor Heath as his stature will help, even if his performance levels may not be where they once were.
