Leon Bailey’s Aston Villa reunion set for imminent end as Harry Wilson transfer eyed

Leon Bailey could already be on his way out of Aston Villa.

The Jamaican international returned to Villa Park in January as his loan deal at Roma was cut short after just half a season.

Unai Emery has started to utilise the winger since his B6 comeback, with mixed performances witnessed so far in claret and blue.

The 28-year-old was hooked early against Newcastle United after Marco Bizot was sent off, potentially representing the beginning of the end in the Midlands.

With Villa stepping up their efforts to sign Harry Wilson from Fulham, Bailey could be packing his bags ahead of a summer departure.

Aston Villa want to sign Harry Wilson on free transfer

Emery will have his eyes firmly on the best possible finish in the Premier League, with hopes of winning the Europa League this season.

The potential of Champions League qualification is on the line, something which could have a telling impact on transfer business going forward.

The claret and blue outfit are currently third and will be confident in maintaining their place in the top five across the rest of the season.

Premier League table

That has prompted the Villans to look forward to the summer window, with Wilson emerging as an early target once again.

The Telegraph reported on Thursday that Villa are “among the leading Premier League teams” who are assessing a move for the Wales international.

The versatile attacking midfielder is out of contract in the summer and will be available on a free if he is to leave Craven Cottage.

Emery’s side wanted the 28-year-old in January, but moved to sign Tammy Abraham instead, and can now turn their attention back to Wilson, much to the concern of Bailey in B6.

Leon Bailey could be replaced by Wilson this summer

Bailey has hardly impressed since returning from Roma, despite the initial excitement surrounding his Bodymoor Heath reunion.

If the Villans are to win the race and get hold of Wilson ahead of next season, it would make little sense to keep hold of the Jamaican.

A free transfer for the Fulham star would certainly go down well, especially off the back of a stellar campaign at Craven Cottage.

The Welshman predominantly features on the right, as does the current Villa man, so he could act as an ideal replacement in the summer.

That could see Bailey move on permanently in the upcoming window and bring his five-year association with the B6 outfit to an end.
