Aston Villa vs Newcastle postponement latest after new Met Office weather warning
Aston Villa’s FA Cup fourth-round clash against Newcastle on Saturday looks set take place in poor conditions.
The Villans beat Spurs 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the third round, and they’ll be aiming to go one better than their semi-final run last season.
The positive news for Unai Emery’s side is that they beat Newcastle 2-0 on 25 January at St James’ Park.
It was a fantastic performance that maintained Villa’s title hopes, and they’ll be confident of repeating the victory in B6.
As Villa are aiming to win back-to-back home matches for the first time since 3 January, concerns over the weather across the UK have emerged.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle not at immediate risk of postponement
Weather warnings have been put in place across the majority of England, including Birmingham.
Despite there being a risk of snow in the North of England and the entirety of Scotland, none is expected to fall in B6.
There is a yellow warning for ice in place on Friday and Saturday, as per the Met Office, but this will thankfully clear – as of 13 February – by the time the game kicks off at 5:45pm.
Fans can expect a temperature of around four degrees Celsius for the duration of the game.
No rain is expected until after the match, and the game will not be postponed at Villa Park unless there is a serious change in the forecast.

While the weather conditions won’t be easy, Emery will be looking forward to extending his promising record against Eddie Howe’s side.

Unai Emery has a brilliant record vs Newcastle
The Magpies have been excellent over the past few seasons, qualifying for the Champions League twice and winning the 2025 Carabao Cup.
Although they have dropped off this campaign, they are an incredibly tough team to play against.
However, Emery boasts a very strong track record against Newcastle and is unbeaten in the last three meetings against Howe.
Emery’s record vs Newcastle:
- Wins: 6
- Draws: 1
- Losses: 3
He led the Villans to a 4-1 win over the Magpies last season and also beat them 3-0 at Villa Park in 2022-23.
In both of the Premier League meetings this campaign, Villa haven’t conceded a goal, and there is no doubt that they are the favourites to win the contest on Saturday.
