Aston Villa fans to be left in disbelief at what Evann Guessand did on debut for Crystal Palace
Aston Villa fans were happy to see the back of Evann Guessand in the winter transfer market.
The Ivorian came to Villa Park in the summer in a deal that saw his former side, OGC Nice, pocket £26million up front.
Villa were frustrated with Guessand’s performances in B6, with the forward unable to score a single Premier League goal for the Villans.
Roberto Olabe then found an exit plan, as Guessand joined Crystal Palace in a loan deal until the end of the season.
No Villa fans would have thought it, but the 24-year-old may actually turn into a good signing for the Eagles after all.

Evann Guessand grabbed assist five minutes into Crystal Palace debut
Unai Emery tried playing Guessand on the right and up front, and after many supporters gave him the benefit of the doubt, he simply failed to improve even after multiple chances.
Which is why his departure in the winter seemed best for all parties, as Crystal Palace had their eyes on the versatile striker before Villa signed him.
But, Villa fans will be in disbelief when they hear that Guessand grabbed a match-winning assist just five minutes into his debut for the Eagles.

Crystal Palace beat Brighton 1-0 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, as Guessand came off the bench to set up Ismaila Sarr for the goal that ended Glasner’s side’s 12-game run without a win.
But, even though Aston Villa supporters may be fuming that he couldn’t ever prove his worth at B6, it may be a good thing if he is to keep playing well for Palace.
Why Guessand performing for Crystal Palace is actually a good thing
Guessand is on a long-term contract with the Villans, which means if Palace don’t use up their option to buy him in the summer, NSWE would still have the wide man on their books for the foreseeable future.
But given Villa’s ambitions, it doesn’t feel like Guessand is the type of player that the Villans should be keeping around for the long term.
- Guessand’s contract with Aston Villa runs until the summer of 2030
- Palace have an option to buy the forward for £28million upon the expiry of his loan deal
Palace can make Guessand’s move permanent in a couple of months, which would prevent NSWE from another major financial loss on Villa’s record.
If anything, every Villa fan should be egging their loanee on to continue delivering solid performances under Glasner, as their own club will only benefit from it.
