Supercomputer predicts whether Aston Villa can achieve historic first vs Bournemouth

Aston Villa take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Dango Ouattara scored the only goal of the game as Villa lost 1-0 to Brentford last Saturday, despite the fact that the Bees were reduced to 10 men in the first half.

The result means that the Midlands outfit are seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Unai Emery’s side are now also looking over their shoulders, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all closing in.

Aston Villa favourites for Bournemouth trip

Aston Villa travel to the south coast having lost two of their last three Premier League games, and Emery’s side are in the depths of an injury crisis.

Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn are all out, which will force the likes of Amadou Onana and Douglas Luiz to step up in the centre of midfield.

As for Bournemouth, they come into the game off the back of two straight top-flight victories, over Liverpool and Wolves.

However, according to the Opta Supercomputer, the Cherries will be up against it on Saturday afternoon, as Villa are firm favourites.

The supercomputer is giving Emery’s side a 42.3 per cent chance of taking all three points.

Bournemouth have a 32.3 per cent chance of coming away with the victory, with the draw currently sitting at 25.4 per cent.

Aston Villa to achieve historic league double

If Aston Villa do pick up all three points against Bournemouth, then it will be the first time they have ever completed a league double over the Cherries.

Back in November, the Midlands outfit cruised to a 4-0 win over Andoni Iraola’s side, with goals from Onana, Emi Buendia, Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen.

Bournemouth are also winless in their last six games against Villa, drawing two and losing four of them, another stat in favour of the visitors.

However, despite going into the clash as big favourites and with history on their side, Villa still have to go out and perform to come away with victory.
