Blackburn ready for cut-price striker exit after Aston Villa submit bid
Aston Villa could wait until the summer to sign Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers.
Aston Villa were linked to Tyjon earlier in January, but didn’t manage to get a deal over the line in the Midlands.
The Villans have added to their squad in forward areas already, with Tammy Abraham joining Villa from Besiktas earlier in the week.
Brian Madjo has also come in from Metz as Unai Emery looks to solidify his forward line for the present day and the future.
Attention could now turn to Blackburn talent Tyjon, with a move potentially on the cards beyond the January transfer window.
Blackburn Rovers reject £1m bid for Igor Tyjon
Villa have raided West Brom’s academy regularly over the years, but it looks as if another Championship side are being assessed this winter.
Blackburn are the latest outfit to be looked at, with Tyjon catching the eye of various youth setups within the Premier League.
Villa have faced direct competition with Arsenal for the 17-year-old’s signature, with the North London outfit now physicalising their interest.
RoversXtra reported on Sunday that Blackburn have rejected a £1million bid from the Gunners.
The second-tier side are said to value the striker at £2m and are also willing to let him go in the summer for a compensation fee of around £200,000.
That could open the door for Villa to make a move of their own after they submitted a bid of their own in the first week of January.
Who is Aston Villa target Igor Tyjon?
Tyjon is a 2008-born forward who has spent his youth career at Ewood Park ever since his move from Rochdale in 2023.
The teenager made his under-21s debut aged 15 and has also featured in multiple first-team squads in the Championship over the years.
That recognition continued onto the international stage as Tyjon featured for England at the U17s World Cup, having also featured for Poland at U16 level.
The youngster is a striker who possesses bags of pace and flair, while having the finishing ability to thrive for the Blackburn academy.
That has prompted interest from Villa and Arsenal, who could help him improve his physicality and make him ready for senior football action.
