Evann Guessand comments give Aston Villa fans deja vu as Crystal Palace move confirmed

Evann Guessand has spoken out in familiar fashion after swapping Aston Villa for Crystal Palace.

Guessand emerged as a target for Palace in January after a hugely disappointing spell at Villa Park this campaign.

The Villans signed Guessand from OGC Nice in the summer, but he has failed to live up to expectations since coming through the doors in B6.

Palace offered Villa a deal they couldn’t refuse for Guessand, and now his move to Selhurst Park has been completed, and an announcement was made on Friday.

The claret and blue faithful will wish Guessand the best, but will have questions about his first comments after joining the Eagles.

What did Evann Guessand say when he signed for Aston Villa?

Things just haven’t worked out for the Ivory Coast international in the Midlands, with his style failing to fit in with what Unai Emery wants.

His defensive work rate was arguably his best quality early on, but that fell away as weeks went on and he began to come across as lazy.

Many Villa fans were glad to see him linked with a move away, a far cry from the excitement over his signature in the summer.

I thought he was going to be a superb signing, as showcased by my lengthy X thread (which has proven to be seriously wrong), but now he has agreed an early exit.

His first words after signing were hugely encouraging and looked to represent someone who Villa had been chasing for a long time.

He said: “I’m really happy to be here. I was waiting for this moment since a long time ago, and now I’m just excited to start the game, see the fans, and my teammates, start to train with them.

Keep an eye on the “long time ago”, you might see that again later on…

Guessand repeats himself with Crystal Palace comments

Footballers often say cliche phrases in interviews, especially after signing for a new club, but this example is virtually a carbon copy.

Guessand’s signing has got many Palace fans excited, and his words are bound to add to that, suggesting he has waited patiently for a move to Selhurst Park.

His first words with the Eagles read: “I’m really, really excited. I was waiting for this moment for a very long time, and I’m excited to play with my new teammates.

So nearly word for word with his Villa comments, and it is a bit strange, especially with him only being on loan initially.

It’s a sense of deja vu for the Villa Park outfit, but the side in red and blue stripes are building in excitement for a new attacking signing.
