Aston Villa’s Premier League title hopes boosted after Erling Haaland exit news
Aston Villa’s wait for their first league title since 1981 could come to an end in the near future.
Aston Villa’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal back in December served as a blow to their chances of winning the Premier League this season, though with a six-point gap, they are still in the race.
The Villans sit level on points with Man City, who look set to be one of the three teams involved in the Premier League title hunt this season.
For Unai Emery to deliver the title to Villa Park this season, it would be a major achievement, to say the least, and perhaps unlikely.
However, their chances of doing so in the near future may be boosted after the latest news from the Etihad.

Erling Haaland linked with Man City exit
While Arsenal may be leading the race at the moment, many still think that Man City will pip them to the title this season.
As for why that is the case, the answer is simple. Erling Haaland.
The Norway international has scored a remarkable 20 Premier League goals this season, but failed to find the net in Man City’s 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa in October.
However, a report from Fichajes now claims that Real Madrid have identified him as a target for the summer transfer window.
Haaland is said to be Florentino Perez’s top target for the summer window, with a dream of having him and Kylian Mbappe in attack.
Man City will be reluctant to sell at any price, but if they were to cash in, it would be a major boost to Aston Villa’s title hopes from next season onwards.
What are Aston Villa’s title hopes this season?
A six-point gap is far from being insurmountable, though it would almost certainly require Villa to get results against the top teams later in the season.
As per Opta‘s supercomputer, the Villans are currently predicted to finish third in the Premier League table, with a total points tally of 73.
They have a four per cent chance of winning the league, while the Gunners are forecast to continue their form.
Arsenal have a 86.1 per cent chance of the title, with an expected final points tally of 84.
