I think the 4-1 defeat vs Arsenal could be exactly what Aston Villa needed
Aston Villa shouldn’t be all doom and gloom after falling to defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday.
Villa suffered a 4-1 loss away to Arsenal as their club record 11-game winning streak came to an end in explosive fashion.
Unai Emery remained positive at the Emirates even after the Premier League made statements after refereeing controversy against Arsenal.
Amadou Onana could have won a penalty for Villa, but was deemed to have gone down too easily and had little to no complaint over the decision.
This has all sparked a strange reaction from Arsenal fans on social media, which may be frustrating in B6, but could be exactly what the Villans need.

Aston Villa deserved to lose vs Arsenal
My feelings on this result can’t take away from Mikel Arteta’s side and how they deserved to secure all three points.
The Gunners racked up 3.04 expected goals and took double the number of shots compared to their visitors, with 22.

They also created six big chances and took two of them, before finding the net on two further occasions in a blockbuster second half.
I do feel as if the result is exactly what Villa needed, but not at the detriment of a stellar home performance from the league leaders.
Aston Villa had to lose at some point
Villa’s away win against Chelsea left many baffled, and it felt as if the claret and blue outfit could beat anyone in their current evolution.
I was delighted but had to remain sceptical over the performance level and how that would work against a side as devastating as Arsenal.
It turned out that I was right to feel that way with the showing away in North London representing a mirror image of the Stamford Bridge victory, but for all the wrong reasons.
Villa were excellent in the first half, and if chances had been taken, they could have been on track for a massive result against the league leaders.
That isn’t how it transpired, and the poor output away to Chelsea in the first half was replicated in the second against Arsenal, but they made their chances count and then some.
No one wants to see their side lose 4-1, but with the state of injuries and suspensions for the B6 outfit, it didn’t come as a surprise in that second 45.
Emery’s men had to taste defeat at some stage, they were never going to win every game across the rest of the season and I think it could prove to be a huge catalyst in maintaining Villa’s form moving forward.
Aston Villa can kick on after Arsenal defeat
It may sound strange to say a 4-1 defeat can be taken as a positive, but in this case, I seriously believe it can.
The 11-win run has thrown the Villans into the Premier League spotlight, with discussions of a title race becoming louder in recent weeks.
They will certainly quiet down after this defeat, but I seriously think that could suit Emery and his side down to the ground.

We’re now at the halfway point of the season, and Villa will want to maintain their form and qualify for the Champions League come May.
The pundits and fans who have had negative things to say about Villa in recent weeks will stop talking about things they know nothing about and leave B6 alone.
Being seen as the underdogs and now as a side who isn’t at the level of Arsenal, I think, could be an ideal scenario to fly under the radar and maintain a positive run across the second half of the campaign.
