Evann Guessand looks finished at Aston Villa already as loan-to-buy transfer news emerges
Evann Guessand’s career at Aston Villa has failed to really get going and he could now be in line for a departure.
Guessand moved to Aston Villa from Nice over the summer, for a reported fee of £30.5million, with a fair amount of expectation on his shoulders.
However, the Ivorian has struggled at the Midlands club, and has started just six Premier League games this season.
The 24-year-old has only scored goals across all competitions, both coming in the Europa League, and Unai Emery could already be eyeing his replacement.
Aston Villa explore Tammy Abraham move
Aston Villa are exploring a potential move for Tammy Abraham, with Emery eager to bring him back to Villa Park.
The 28-year-old grabbed 26 Championship goals in a season-long spell at Villa in 2018-19 as they were promoted to the Premier League.
Abraham is currently on loan at Besiktas from Roma, but the Turkish side hold an option to buy the centre-forward.
It means that Villa will have to negotiate with Besiktas if they want to sign the former Chelsea man in the January window.
Abraham is thought to be keen on the move, with Donyell Malen’s imminent exit potentially opening the door for his return to Villa Park.
If the Englishman does come in, it could signal the beginning of the end for Guessand under Emery.
Tammy Abraham arrival signals disaster for Evann Guessand
Guessand has spent the majority of his time at Villa as a right winger, but he has failed to find his feet out wide.
Throughout his career, the Ivorian has played all across the front three, but he has often had success as a striker.
Emery is yet to utilise Guessand up front, and with Malen’s departure set to be confirmed, the Spaniard could have opted to try the 24-year-old at centre-forward.
However, if Abraham does sign this month, it ends any chance of Guessand being able to impress as a striker at Villa.

It seems likely that the former Nice man will continue to struggle on the right wing instead, which would leave a summer exit very much on the cards.
