Aston Villa agree transfer that breaks Premier League record

Aston Villa have agreed a fee to sign Brian Madjo from French outfit Metz, with the striker set for a medical.

Unai Emery is looking to improve Villa’s side in the January window, with multiple big names already linked to B6.

Villa have been tipped to sign Gonzalo Garcia of Real Madrid, as well as Brentford’s Igor Thiago, to provide Ollie Watkins with competition for the number nine spot.

However, Villa now look increasingly likely to secure the signing of Madjo.

The 16-year-old won’t push Watkins for a starting spot just yet; however, Aston Villa may have just secured their future with a £10.4million deal that breaks a Premier League record.

Brian Madjo becomes most expensive 16-year-old in Premier League history

Madjo will be joining on a five-year deal that marks one of the first pieces of business that Roberto Olabe has conducted since arriving at the back end of 2025.

The 2009-born talent has caught the eye of internal figures at Villa Park, with Olabe and Co. seemingly convinced that Madjo has all the makings of leading Villa’s frontline one day.

Harvey Elliot Fulham – Liverpool£4m
Jermaine Pennant Nottingham Forest – Arsenal £2m

Madjo now tops current Aston Villa player, Harvey Elliott, for being the most expensive 16-year-old in Premier League history.

Elliott joined Liverpool from Fulham at 16 years of age, which required the Reds to pay £4million in compensation, a record at the time, which has now been smashed by the soon-to-be Villa man.

There may also be other 16-year-olds who have moved from English academies to Premier League sides, who joined on undisclosed fees, but anything significant will have most likely been reported.

What is Madjo’s record for Metz?

There will be lots of curiosity as to who Madjo is and how such a young player demands such a high transfer fee.

Villa have been notoriously successful in their transfer business in recent years, with the likes of Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and John Duran, all proving to be immaculate signings, all things considered.

Monchi led a poor window in the summer, though, but with the Spaniard no longer at Aston Villa, the club look to be getting back to signing the best European talents.

Madjo’s record for Metz’s under-19s:

Madjo has been ripping things up for Metz in the youth ranks, earning himself five senior appearances in Ligue 1 this campaign.

The Luxembourg international has also played on several occasions for his country at youth level, and looks to be a really neat find by Aston Villa’s recruitment team.
