Done deal: Aston Villa finalise agreement for midfielder exit

Aston Villa have begun the January transfer window in busy fashion.

Villa have already brought in Alysson from Gremio after agreeing a deal with the teenager ahead of the winter market’s opening.

A deal for the Brazilian was agreed and Alysson was announced as a Villa player earlier this week, but Unai Emery and Co. may not be done there.

Many players have been linked to Villa already, but exits are looking necessary if the Villans are to make any deals happen moving forward.

A deal has now been agreed to see a midfield talent depart, with an eye seemingly more on the future than the present at Villa Park.

Aidan Borland joins Swindon Town on loan from Aston Villa

The claret and blue outfit have plenty of young talents threatening to break through into the first team after years of success.

The Young Lions secured treble success last season, with the FA Youth Cup victory being a day to remember in the Villa Park sunshine.

Aidan Borland has been key for Villa’s youth sides, and that has been recognised with a first-team debut under Emery.

The Scot has now taken his first step into regular senior football after a deal to join Swindon Town was confirmed on Saturday.

The League Two outfit have described the youngster as “a highly-rated central midfielder” and will utilise his talents until the end of the campaign.

Who is Aidan Borland?

The wider Villa fan base may not be completely clued up on who the teenage midfielder is after just one senior appearance in claret and blue.

He joined the B6 academy from Celtic as the Villans made yet another academy signing, something which has become customary over the years.

Borland made his debut for Villa against Wycombe Wanderers and is now set for his latest adventure into men’s football.

There are easy similarities to make to John McGinn due to their nationality, but there is genuine play style likeness that certainly is exciting.
