Aston Villa want to sign Newcastle forward after multi-million agreement already reached

Aston Villa are aiming to be active in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa’s damaging 4-1 defeat at Arsenal on Tuesday left Unai Emery‘s six points adrift of the Gunners at the top of the Premier League.

But the Villans are still very much in the title tussle, and Villa have already been linked with several players in the January window to try and boost their cause.

Moreover, Fabrizio Romano reported that Villa have already signed all documents to sign Gremio forward Alysson, with an initial £8.7million deal said to have been agreed already with a further £1.75m due in add-ons.

Now, it looks as though Villa want to raid Premier League rivals Newcastle United to increase their forward options for the remainder of the campaign.

Unai Emery and Aston Villa want to revive summer transfer pursuit

It is little secret that Villa had to carefully navigate choppy PSR waters in the summer transfer window, and had to box clever to bring the likes of Evann Guessand and Jadon Sancho to Villa Park – the latter on a loan deal from Manchester United.

According to a report in the print edition of the Daily Mail, Villa are now hoping to secure a deal for versatile Newcastle forward William Osula.

Villa were reportedly tracking Osula in the summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise and the 22-year-old saw a move to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt fall through.

Concerns about complying with PSR rules were thought to be behind Villa’s inability to complete a deal, and the Mail says that sales may have to be consider to facilitate a move now with Ross Barkley among those who they may consider bids for.

What would William Osula signing mean for Harvey Elliott at Aston Villa?

One of the more peculiar outcomes of the summer transfer window has been Harvey Elliott‘s inability to get a look in after joining from Liverpool.

The 22-year-old winger has featured only five times for Villa this season, the last of which came in the 2-0 Europa League win at Feyenoord at the start of October.

Elliott has already played for Villa and Liverpool this season and FIFA’s rules only permit players to feature for two clubs, meaning his situation is complicated.

The Mail says that Villa may pay a fee to terminate his loan early, though it remains to be seen if the complication with FIFA’s regulations will play a part in the thinking.

But, with reports that Villa are once again in the market for Osula, Elliott’s already dire situation at the club would only look more damaging.
