Jadon Sancho flips script as Tony Cascarino praises ‘terrific’ Aston Villa cameo vs Chelsea
Jadon Sancho may have finally just had his Aston Villa breakthrough in the huge win over Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Villa turned things around to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, in a victory that extended the Villans’ winning run to 11.
Ollie Watkins stole the headlines for his brace off the bench, as Unai Emery‘s genius prevailed once again for an eighth consecutive Premier League win.
Sancho has found it difficult since arriving at B6, but in the latest positive news for Villa, he now looks to be getting back to his frightening best.
The Englishman’s short performance at Stamford Bridge certainly left an impression on Tony Cascarino.

Tony Cascarino loved ‘hungry’ Jadon Sancho showing
Sancho has had to endure criticism for a lack of attacking output since coming to Villa Park on loan from Manchester United this summer.
The winger was one of three substitutions that Emery made on the hour mark when Aston Villa were trailing, as he truly made an impact with just 31 minutes of playing time.
| Minutes | Shots (on target) | Passing accuracy | Dribbles (successful) | Touches | Ground duels won | Rating |
| 31 | 1 (1) | 93% | 3 (2) | 24 | 2 | 6.6 |
As highlighted by Sofascore, Sancho boasted a 100 per cent passing accuracy in Chelsea’s half and was a direct threat in attack, completing two dribbles successfully.
While speaking live on talkSPORT this Sunday, Cascarino was quick to praise the former England international, who has proved his worth to Emery.
Cascarino said: “If you look at Villa substitutions, [Amadou] Onana, Ollie Watkins. But I’d say Jadon Sancho. He came on, and he was terrific for the period that he was on the pitch.
“He looked sharp, and he looked hungry to get into positions.”
Sancho has sent Emery a message loud and clear, as the Villa boss now has an easy decision to make.
Sancho will start over New Year period, here’s why
Emi Buendia failed to take his chance versus the Blues after starting multiple Premier League games from the bench in recent weeks.
The Argentine lost possession seven times in 59 minutes and wasn’t able to complete a single dribble successfully.
Emery tactically changed things up when he brought Sancho on, and played the forward on the right, but his versatility can be crucial in a congested winter period for Villa.
Rotation will be required for the Villans over the coming weeks, and Sancho should have done enough to convince his boss that he is worthy of starting.
