Morgan Rogers out of this world as 4/10 struggles – Aston Villa player ratings vs Man United

Morgan Rogers continued his sensational run of form as Aston Villa clinched a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

The England international opened the scoring with a fantastic curled finish following a sublime touch, and then Matheus Cunha fired home an equaliser straight away after Patrick Dorgu picked Matty Cash’s pockets.

A below-par performance from the hosts was indeed saved by the brilliance of Rogers, who cut inside Leny Yoro once more and produced a carbon copy of his first in the 57th minute to win Villa all three points.

Unai Emery would have been pleased after Aston Villa ended their awful run against Man United to move three points behind leaders Arsenal heading into Christmas.

Morgan Rogers was world-class vs Man United

Rogers has become a talisman for Aston Villa, and the 23-year-old continued his recent heroics against Manchester United.

His magnificent touch, driving run at Yoro and curling strike into the top corner was a world-class piece of play, and his second goal was a replica of the first, sending another beautiful finish past Senne Lammens.

Jamie Carragher was wowed by Rogers against West Ham after his incredible brace, with the Englishman producing another match-winning performance to drag his team to all three points.

On an afternoon where Villa weren’t at their best, they had Rogers to thank for winning a seventh-straight top-flight game.

Matty Cash was poor against Man United

Cash is enjoying a brilliant campaign at Aston Villa with three goals and one assist in the top-flight this term, but the Poland international didn’t have his best outing on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old ambled on the ball deep in his own half and had his pockets picked by Dorgu, with Cunha clinically dispatching his chance past Martinez.

Villa conceded on the stroke of half-time thanks to a lackadaisical moment from Cash, who wasn’t his usual threatening best in attack.

He fired one shot on goal, didn’t complete a single cross or key pass, which is unusual for someone so attacking, but at least his mistake didn’t cost Emery’s men all three points.
