Aston Villa ready Ter Stegen transfer already after Emi Martinez exit reveal
Aston Villa are said to be in pursuit of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as speculation continues to surround Emi Martinez.
Unai Emery’s side are currently embroiled in a Premier League title race, fighting both Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table.
Following a slow start to the campaign, Aston Villa have now won 10 of their last 11 games in the top flight, making them the form team in the division.
However, despite their impressive recent results, the Midlands giants are still concerned about the long-term future of goalkeeper Martinez.
Aston Villa make Emi Martinez plan
Martinez was linked with an Aston Villa exit in the summer transfer window, but ultimately, a move away never materialised.
The 33-year-old looked set to join Manchester United, but the Red Devils instead opted to sign Senne Lammens to replace Andre Onana.
Reports have emerged that Martinez may still be looking to leave Aston Villa and return to Argentina.
The Sunday People has now reported in its print edition that the Midlands giants are uncertain about his long-term future and are already exploring replacements.
One of the names on Villa’s shortlist is Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen, and talks have reportedly opened between both parties regarding a potential transfer.

Aston Villa sources speak out about Ter Stegen rumours
Despite the rumours, the word from Aston Villa is that they are content with their current goalkeeping department.
When news linking Ter Stegen to Villa Park broke, director of football operations Damian Vidagany took to social media to warn fans about the validity of some sources.
Aston Villa journalist John Townley has also spoken out about the ter Stegen reports, reiterating that Emery is happy with both Martinez and backup keeper Marco Bizot.
It seems that Ter Stegen won’t be making the switch to the Midlands from Spain, but the rumours about Martinez’s future are likely to continue regardless.
