Unai Emery bang on the money with ‘crazy’ Aston Villa admission ahead of Manchester United clash

Unai Emery has been left stunned after finding out Aston Villa’s woeful record against Manchester United at Villa Park.

Villa host Man United at Villa Park on Sunday, with Emery hopeful of extending the Villans’ winning streak to an incredible 10 in a row in all competitions.

Morgan Rogers is in fine form coming into the match after scoring a brace in Villa’s 3-2 win over West Ham last time out in the Premier League.

Emery has a chance to break a record for Villa with a 10th consecutive victory in all competitions, but the Spaniard is aware of the threat that United always pose at Villa Park.

History doesn’t lie.

Aston Villa have only managed to beat Man United three times on their own patch since 1995. This includes just two victories over the Red Devils in the top flight.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Emery highlighted the Villa Park curse.

Emery told reporters on Friday: “I think in 30 years, only three times at home have Aston Villa beaten Manchester United.

“I think this is a really crazy number for Aston Villa, against Manchester United.”

However, Villa have a major factor in why victory is needed above all else on Sunday.

Aston Villa need to beat Man United to keep Premier League dream alive

Due to the Villa’s ruthless run of form of late, Emery has his side right in the thick of the Premier League title race.

Arsenal are the runaway favourites right now, but have shown signs of cracks in the past couple of games.

Villa have already beaten Arsenal at Villa Park this season, which makes a win over United seem essential.

Coming into the busiest part of the campaign, Villa mustn’t drop points, or their dream of winning the Premier League will be crushed quickly.
