Aston Villa developments ‘unbelievable’ as Chris Sutton predicts outcome of Man United clash

Chris Sutton expects Aston Villa’s hoodoo against Man United to end this weekend.

Villa host Man United at Villa Park on Sunday, looking to move above Man City into second place in the Premier League.

Despite a somewhat rocky start to the campaign, the Villans have been in marvellous form, and find themselves just three points behind league leaders Arsenal, albeit with a far inferior goal difference.

Ahead of the game, Chris Sutton has predicted the result, while taking into account what he has seen from Aston Villa over the last few weeks.

Villa went six games without a win at the start of the campaign, and for a brief moment, it was looking as though it was going to be one of those seasons.

However, John McGinn’s winning goal against Bologna back in September seemed to change everything, with Villa going on to win a remarkable 15 of their next 17 encounters in all competitions.

In the Premier League alone, Emery’s side have won nine games in a row, and that is the basis of Sutton’s prediction for this weekend, as shared via BBC Sport.

He said: “United have some sort of hoodoo over Villa, who have only beaten them in one of their past 26 Premier League meetings – Unai Emery’s first game in charge, in November 2022.

“But Villa have already beaten Arsenal this month, so why can’t they beat United? I think they can.

“Also, for Villa to have won nine games in a row is just unbelievable.

Sutton went on to predict a 2-0 win for the Villans.

Just how bad is Aston Villa’s record vs Man United

Aston Villa have won two games against Man United in the last 16 years, with those wins coming in 2022 and 2021.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last six games against the Villans, winning their last encounter 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Amad and Christian Eriksen were on the score sheet for Man United that day, neither of whom will feature in this weekend’s clash.

Villa’s recent record against the Manchester outfit showcases the task at hand, but their recent form is certainly capable of dragging them through on this occasion.
