‘Unai Emery will want this at phenomenal Aston Villa – It’s not the Premier League title’
Aston Villa are flying once again under Unai Emery.
Aston Villa beat Basel 2-1 on Thursday to continue their winning run after beating Arsenal last time out in the Premier League to go third.
West Ham are next up in the Premier League, with a real buzz building around the club yet again after succeeding massively in recent years.
Despite that, Villa will go into 2026 to make it 30 years without major silverware.

Aston Villa will not care about Premier League
Paul Merson admits that the Premier League isn’t the ultimate goal in B6, with months to go until we know for sure if they’re in the title race properly.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, the ex-Villa midfielder shared the ultimate goal that everyone will want around Villa Park.
“Phenomenal,” Merson said.
“I just think the manager will want to win the Europa League, I just think 30 years, it’ll be 30 years next year that they haven’t won a trophy.

“Them fans, massive football club.”

Where did Aston Villa fail last season?
Aston Villa went far in the Champions League and FA Cup last season.
Getting all the way to Wembley and the semi-final of the FA Cup, Villa lost against Crystal Palace, who went on to lift that and the Community Shield in the summer.
That is exactly what Villa want, and they could end 30 years of hurt next year by doing it themselves.
Villa also pushed Paris Saint-Germain all the way in the Champions League, with many thinking the Lions should have gone through over the eventual winners, too.
Despite that, Villa didn’t reach those finals or lift silverware.
Looking at this season outside of the Premier League, Villa were knocked out of the Carabao Cup back in September, losing on penalties at Brentford.
With the FA Cup starting against Tottenham next month, Emery will have his eyes on that again, with progression almost secured in the Europa League already.
Villa keep winning in the Premier League too, and as long as that quietly continues, nobody can ever rule them out of the title race, no matter what Emery thinks.
