Pau Torres extends extraordinary Villa Park record in Aston Villa’s dramatic win vs Arsenal
Pau Torres is quickly becoming one of the first names on the Aston Villa teamsheet again as his fantastic performances at Villa Park continue.
Aston Villa beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday, with the result leaving them third in the Premier League, and three points off the top of the table.
Villa Park has become a fortress under Unai Emery, and after winning nine consecutive home games in all competitions, Aston Villa are flourishing in both the Premier League and the Europa League.
Torres had come under scrutiny for some of his performances in a Villa shirt this season, yet his composure on the ball has made him irreplaceable in Emery’s starting line-up.
As fans start to get excited about their title-challenging credentials, they realise that Torres’ fitness is key to Villa’s progression, with the Spaniard also possessing a fantastic unbeaten record at home.

Pau Torres unbeaten at Villa Park in 467 days
The 28-year-old joined the Villans from Spanish side Villarreal in 2023 and has since made 91 appearances under Emery.
Torres has been faultless at home, and his moment of the season came when he made a stunning goal-line clearance in Villa’s 1-0 over Man City on 26 October.
Aston Villa have not lost a Premier League home game that Torres has started in one year, three months and 12 days (P15, W11, D4), which equates to 467 days.
| Home record | Stat | Away record |
| 8 | Games played | 7 |
| 6 | Wins | 3 |

Torres’ positive influence on Villa isn’t just confined to his performances at home, and he has added much-needed resilience at the back.
They have also won their last seven home games with Torres in the starting line-up, conceding just twice in that run.
According to FotMob, Torres has registered a pass accuracy of 88.1 per cent, while making 15 tackles and 12 blocks in the Premier League.

Torres has also benefited from some luck this season, with Tyrone Mings’ fitness issues allowing him to start every match.
Pau Torres has benefited from Tyrone Mings’ injury problems
Mings is out with a hamstring injury until early January, which will be a huge blow for Villa as he misses the busy schedule.
When he came back into the team during the early weeks of the season, Mings was impressive, and Torres was left on the bench as a result.
The Spaniard has been near faultless since coming in for the injured defender, and the former Villarreal man has taken Emery’s side to a different level.
It must also be said that Ezri Konsa has provided a level of calmness and maturity at the back, and it has been transmitted to Torres’ form at Villa Park.
When Mings returns to full fitness, it will be very intriguing to see what that means for Torres’ place in the starting line-up, but looking at this, he simply has to start.
