Ezri Konsa ‘interest advances’ as four-man transfer shortlist drawn up away from Aston Villa

Ezri Konsa has been named among a four-man transfer shortlist away from Aston Villa.

The centre-back has become a hot property of late after a string of consistently impressive performances in the Premier League.

Konsa is away from Aston Villa at the moment, as he has once again joined up with Thomas Tuchel’s England squad ahead of the latest round of international fixtures.

Unai Emery has overseen a promising turnaround in B6 in recent weeks, but he could be about to see his worst fear materialise in the coming weeks.

Inter Milan ‘advancing’ for Ezri Konsa deal

Konsa recently captained Aston Villa for the first time during their Europa League victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv, and he hailed the impact that Emery has had on him after the game.

The Spanish boss will hope to have the 28-year-old at his disposal for many years to come at Villa Park, but that could soon be about to change if Inter Milan are to get their way in January.

The Villa star is understood to be “advancing as a candidate” for the Italian giants, according to a report from L’Interesta.

Christian Chivu’s side have a four-man shortlist to add to their depth at the centre of defence, consisting of the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano, with that trio’s contracts all due to expire next summer.

However, a big fight is anticipated in relation to those targets, which appears to be pushing Konsa forward as a likely candidate.

The Nerazzurri are set to lose veteran Francesco Acerbi when his deal expires next summer, and Konsa is a “profile that is liked” by Inter.

It remains to be seen whether they will ultimately materialise that interest, but their desire to bring him in is certainly growing ahead of the window.

£35.3m Ezri Konsa suggestion to be laughed off by Aston Villa

It has recently been suggested that Konsa could leave Aston Villa for as little as £30million, and the latest report from L’Interesta reflects a similar belief.

The Italian outlet believe that Konsa would only cost around the £35.3million mark, which is a figure that would surely be laughed off very quickly at Villa Park.

The second city side may face PSR difficulties once again in January, but there are undoubtedly other ways for them to address that, rather than sanctioning what would effectively be a panicked Konsa sale.

A fee in the region of £35m would simply be daylight robbery for a player who is now a fully-fledged England international, and it seems highly unlikely that Villa will even entertain any potential advances from Inter, if they genuinely think a deal can be struck for that figure.
