Aston Villa set to revive interest in £10.5m star in January, but there’s a catch
Aston Villa could return to the table to sign Oscar Mingueza in the January transfer window.
Villa showed interest in signing Mingueza last January, but pulled out of the race, opting to bring Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford to Villa Park.
However, Villa have now revived their interest in Mingueza as they look to strengthen their right-back options, according to Spanish outlet AS.
But the Villans will have more than Celta Vigo to deal with to seal this transfer.

West Ham and Newcastle United also interested in Oscar Mingueza
Aston Villa’s PSR struggles, as well as their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, restricted their summer transfer movements.
Evann Guessand’s arrival from Nice for £30million was the most the Villans spent, with three two spells, one free transfer and Marco Bizot completing their summer window.
However, it is now understood that Unai Emery is once again keen on convincing Mingueza to sign at Villa Park.
The full-back is in the final year of his contract, and talks have stalled over a new long-term deal with Celta.
- This could open the door to a cut-price sale in January
- Villa could pay a bargain price of £10.5m to sign him
However, Villa are not alone in their pursuit of the 26-year-old, with fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and West Ham both showing interest.

The report also states that other clubs such as AC Milan, Como, Atalanta and Marseille are looking at a potential transfer. As such, Villa will have to act fast or risk missing out completely this winter.
Should Matty Cash be worried by Mingueza situation?
Matty Cash has impressed for Villa this season and has had the right-back position on lock for several seasons.
However, there is reason to believe that he would face competition if Mingueza arrived at Villa Park.

The 26-year-old has been the more complete player this season, recording more progressive passes, expected assists and accurate crosses. He has also performed significantly better in his defensive duels.
Meanwhile, Cash only excels at possession won and has been a marginally better ball carrier.
As a result, Mingueza would not only improve Emery’s squad but might even snatch Cash’s spot in the starting lineup.
